Built and homologated for racing in the FIA's Group 4 category, the Rennsport 2.7 debuted in the 1973 model year. It was powered by a 2.7 liter air cooled flat-six engine that produced 210 horsepower and featured Bosch mechanical fuel injection, wider rear wheels and fenders, and a ducktail rear spoiler not offered on its counterpart.
